Robert J Toot

After high school, I went to the All Star game in Flagstaff .  Then I spent a year at EAJC, played football and worked at the cafeteria.  I returned to Globe and worked for Earl Cunningham at State Supply driving a truck all over Arizona delivering supplies to small grocery stores.  Margaret and I got married on November 28, 1959.

I finally got a better job working for the street department of the City of Globe so that I could stay in the Globe area, and worked there for about eight years.  Next I went to work for the Pinto Valley Mine as an equipment operator and after two years became a sub foreman and went on salary. In 1992, I was forced to retire when they had a big layoff of a lot of their middle management staff.

After having my knee replaced, I went to work as an equipment operator for E & N Construction.  They asked me to be a boss, but I told them that when someone throws a finger at the boss, I want to be the one throwing the finger.  I retired again at 62 years and have spent a lot of time hunting and fishing and babysitting my great grand son (but no housework).

We have three children: a son Robin, who is (can you believe it?)  47 years old and works for a construction company in Las Vegas , Nevada ; a daughter, Karen, who is 44 years old, and then our beautiful accident, Nicole, who is 36 years old.  Robbie has 4 daughters, and Nicole has 2 sons.  Karen decided to adopt her first child at 40 years of age, a darling little 3 year old boy from Ethiopia.  This August, she adopted 2 more boys, both 8 years old, from Ethiopia , and now has her hands full.  Both of our daughters are registered nurses, Karen working at Maricopa Medical Center, and Nicole running a home health agency.  We also have 3 great grand children, and one of them lives here in Globe, and we get to help take care of him, whican style="mso-spacerun: yes">

I really miss high school.  I think it was the most fun I’ve had in my life, and I miss all the kids and the really great football and basketball games we had.  I really look forward to watching my grandsons play basketball and football, and I hope they have as good a group of kids in their high school as we did, and as much fun.
